2014 Local global trends

They asked me which where the trends in Spain for this 2014; all words that came to my mind, could have been applied to other places, organic materials: wool, wicker, rattan, back to roots, handmade, bright color spots lighten us up, combined though with relaxed ambiances. Then what makes the difference? Well our roots, our past, which feeds our imagination with pictures, personal ones.

Hydraulic floors, back in the XIX and beginning XX century, modernism influenced with contemporary designs; rugs hand knitted that colonize puffs, and pillows; hanged chairs that return us to our childhood, that help us quite our mind and enjoy present time; shelters that seem to float; cupboards that make you feel that you are playing tetris with your tableware; tables that open up in unexpected ways, multiply their working space; balloons that light your dreams, and falling water lily that warm up your thoughts.

Cuando me preguntaron cuales eran las tendencias para el 2014 en España, todas las palabras que vinieron a mi mente podrían serían válidas para otros lugares: lana, mimbre, ratán, vuelta a las raíces, hecho a mano, colores saturados puntualmente, que dan vida, combinados con ambientes relajados. Entonces:¿cual es la diferencia?

Pues bien, nuestras raíces, historias que nutre nuestra mente con imágenes propias. Suelos hidráulicos, de origen de finales del siglo XIX, principio del XX, modernismo con un toque de diseño contemporáneo; alfombras tejidas a mano que colonizan pufs y cojines; sillas colgantes que nos devuelven a nuestra infancia y que nos ayudan a calmar nuestra mente, a disfrutar del presente; estanterías que parecen flotar; cómodas que te hacen sentir como si estuvieran jugando al tetris con la vajilla; mesas que se abren de manera inesperada, multiplicando sus superficies de trabajo; globos que iluminan nuestros sueños y nenúfares que aportan calidez a nuestros pensamientos.

Molo means lovely softwalls

I felt quite nostalgic, as I saw Molo's stand at Stokholm Furniture Fair; I still remember, as a student they asked us to design an space/object where we could get isolated; Iro, a greek friend, took some coarrugated cardboard and created with it an space where you could hide, ephimeral cave. I love the professional version, out of textil, lighten up with leds softwall by Molo. And their lamps too, they look great! But what really makes me breathless is seeing the inside honey comb structure, beautiful! it is awesome how the need of displaying their catalogs, showed us the greatest side of the product.

No he podido evitar sentir nostalgia, al ver el stand de Molo en Stockholm Furniture Fair; aún recuerdo cuando estudiando nos pidieron diseñar un espacio/objeto para aislarnos: Iro, una amiga griega, cogió cartón coarrugado y generó con él un habitáculo, una cueva efímera. Me encanta la versión profesional, textil, retroiluminada con leds la softwall de Molo. Bueno y sus lámparas también me parecen geniales. Pero lo que más he disfrutado ha sido viendo las tripas de la estructura de colmena, precioso! La necesidad de poder exponer los catálogos, nos descubre la faceta más bella del producto.

Design and art at Seneca Night 2013

I want to say that I can't take off my mind the images of the Clément Aubert's work. Seneca Night, 14th of november 2013, had its results; I discovered green shoots at Ox, Antique boutique and this artist at Galería Miquel Alzueta. May be, what captivated me most, where the shadows projected by his work. The magic of light.

En fin, no me puedo sacar de la cabeza las imágenes de la obra de Clément Aubert. La Seneca Night, 14 de noviembre 2013, tuvo sus frutos; además de los brotes verdes que mostraban Ox, Antique boutique, descubrí a este artista en la  Galería Miquel Alzueta. Quizás lo que más me fascinó fueron las sombras que proyectaba su obra. La magia de la luz.
